Movie Review: Woman In Gold (’15 Simon Curtis)

Woman In Gold looks beautiful on screen. I mean, it is a picturesque motion of visuals and photograph experience. The stunning frames, the elegant setting and not to mention, the fantastic performance of Helen Mirren. Those factors alone could make this film stand out but then it misses an integral part – the narrative. In which I personally feel like the film fails to explore in depthly. Yes, there are golden – no pun intended – moments here. But for some parts, it left me hanging, more so it was crafted blandly. Ryan Reynolds was good as well but his uneven performance is a little underwhelming. His nuances were almost spot on but at some point, he misses the spot. Nonetheless, here is a film that is visually gorgeous and fairly tolerable. 7
