New Track: Julie Anne San Jose – Not Impressed

Are you still not impressed? Ha! The underrated multi-talented girl is giving us another world class showing, Julie Anne San Jose is back with another video from her up and coming EP. This is legit. I like the video and the urban-pop vibe of the song allows us to see an edgier side of the young pop diva. This is the quality of music that showcased Julie Anne to her finest and this just seal the fact that Julie Anne is someone to look out for out of her contemporaries. The choreography is on fleek. The video is really impressive and the music is something new from her. Good stuff!

X Factor 12: Auditions (2)

X Factor UK 12

Last night we had a very good first night of auditions. There were pretty good talent that could go far in the competition if the judges are going to be logical with who they will send through to the next rounds.

Tonight, auditions continue with some groups, individual artists and novelty acts trying to get at least 3 Yeses to move to the bootcamp.

Check out those who made it tonight.

The First KingsUptown Funk
– While I like the fact that they were well prepared, I feel like the vocals here were recorded as well. It sounded well too technical and polished for a live audition. Color me wrong but I hope I am wrong because that would be weird. Nonetheless, it is clear this group knows each other well enough to pull something like this. It wasn’t groundbreaking but it is surely a made performance. 6

Chloe PaigeCrying For No Reason
– I like this for some reason. Chloe has a lovely tone and a quiet confidence in it that is admirable and solid. Pretty nice. 7

Seann Miley MooreShow Must Go On
– He came from Australia! Wow, X Factor UK is really open for international auditionees. This is like the Adam Lambert of UK now. The get up, the range in his vocals, it was there. While I am afraid, he might get compared with Adam throughout the course of the show, I love his individuality! It speaks volume and he can actually sing. 7

Josh DanielJealous
– Emotional, captivating, fantastic! I lived for this. It wasn’t perfect vocally but I am moved. 8

New Track: Simple Plan – Boom

Oooh! Simple Plan released their newest album and single for their up and coming new album. The pop-rock band who is known behind hit songs Untitled, Perfect and Addicted is sporting the same genre and style that they have been known for in this new song called Boom. This is pretty decent. I really think they are one of the inspirations of now popular boy group, 5 Seconds of Summer.

Watch and listen to their new song below:

Movie Review: We Are Your Friends (’15 Max Joseph)

We are you friends is quite formulaic. The coming of age film boasts a stylish cinematography and stars that are charismatic, in particular, Zac Efron but then it was crafted too cliche’d. The film never really went deeper even if it has a promising premise. Was it a bad film? No. Not even. It certainly has some decent moments and charming parts but then again it is not memorable nor strong. It feels like the film rests on the laurels of its lead stars. The writing was blah. The film was okay. 5

X Factor UK 12: Auditions (1)

X Factor UK is back for a new season with brand new hosts, some new judges and a new goal of finding the next One Direction, Little Mix or Olly Murs! Speaking of Olly, he is actually one of the new hosts this season together with Caroline Flack.

Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw will seat as the new judges of season 12. They will join returning judges, Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

So how the first night of auditions went.

Susan PryceNo Limit
– Joke contestant! This is a complete joke but she got through because she entertained the crowd. Boo. 1

Lauren MurraySomebody Else’s Guy
– Oops. She missed her start but she recovered well! Once she picked up, she never turned back. Her vocals were big and the range were crazy. She was almost on pitch perfecf. 7.5

Jennifer PhillipsShackles
– This was very dynamic. She created a good build up that once she reached that, she managed to keep the crowd going. Her vocals weren’t perfect but she can really sing. It was fun and vocally good. 7.5

Tom DaviesAs Long As You Love Me
– Tom was a good looking guy but this was a bit meh. Vocally decent but nothing reqlly groundbreaking. 5.5

Mason NoiseSeñorita
– Much like Tom, this is decent but nothing really something you will remember after the show. 5.5

Tom BleasbyMake You Feel My Love
– His voice is quite thin for the song. I agree with Simon, he is a bit polarizing. This is quite a blah for me too. 5

4th PowerBang, Bang
– Sisters from the Philippines. They’ve been veterans of singing competitions and it is quite commendable that they flew all the way from the Philippines just to audition. On a side note, I didn’t know international acts can audition. Nonetheless, these 4 killed it! The command on stage were impeccable. The vocals were not perfect but they were explosive and they had quite good harmonies here and there! This is solid! 7.5

Louisa JohnsonWho’s Loving You
– Girl can sing! Wow, she has big pipes. The vocals were quite good. I was just looking for some dynamics because I feel like she attacked the song big right away. But then all in all, this was good. 7

New Track: Justin Bieber – What Do You Mean

Justin Bieber is back with a new tune. Sure, he did a couple of collaboration here and there so he wasn’t really been missed in the music industry but now he released his own single for his up and coming new album.

What Do You Mean, the title track is a pop, electro driven song that is quite similar with his collaboration with Skrillex and Diplo (“Where are you now”). This is pretty nice, decent. Quite repetitive which is popular in music now.
