Movie Review: Pan (’15 Joe Wright)

Despite its impressive visuals, beautiful cinematography and A-list supporting casts, Pan fails to leave a lasting impression. Levi Miller was good. Rooney Mara was lovely. Amanda Seyfried was fine. Hugh Jackman is – for me – a miscast. The film has a weak script, thin plot and an uninspiring flow. The transitions were a bit dragging. The pacing is not that fluid. The whole film just felt flat and bland. At the end of it, you wonder.. “Do we really need a Peter Pan prequel?” But then again, I think the intentions were in good faith here, it’s just everything from script, some casting (and I love Hugh Jackman but damn, this is not really right for him) and story line, the film is just disjointed and flat. That said, I don’t think it was entirely a bad film, it’s just it wasn’t that good enough. 5
