X Factor UK 12: Songs To Get Me To The Finals (Top 4)

X Factor UK 12 - TOP 13

This episode isn’t exciting as I wish it would be. Or should I say, even if the immense talent of this season, the whole totality of season 12 is quite an underwhelming thing no? Was it the mentors’ lack of constructive criticism? Was it the abundance of mash-ups? Was it the boring themes? Or maybe it is the song choices that were either uninspired or repetitive.

Also, just give Louisa Johnson the crown. She is obviously the chosen one and even if she really do perform so well, the songs and reactions on her weekly performances seem like made for her to give a “moment”.

Anyway here is how the two rounds of random theme went on.

ROUND 1

4. REGGIE ‘N’ BOLLIE
Locked Away
[GROUPS]

– Losing the entertainment, fun aspect and just making them sing showed all their vocal flaws. Sigh. 2

3. CHE CHESTERMAN
Would I Lie To You
[BOYS]

– Decent and I do love the verses as I thought he sounded really beautiful. But the unnecessary runs were well unnecessary. 6

2. LAUREN MURRAY
Take Me Home
[GIRLS]

– There seems to be a rush during some of her verses but Lauren as usual sounded gorgeous. She navigated the song decently and her tone is simply beautiful. But parts of it also sounded sluggish and off pitch. My issue also? Why did she do a song she did during the Judges Home Visit? X Factor, are you serious? 6

1. LOUISA JOHNSON
The Power Of Love
[GIRLS]

– Not as good as Christina Marie’s cover on her run on The Voice UK 3 but in this round, Louisa was the runaway winner. Vocally she was consistent albeit some dragging verses. But that just me nitpicking. 7.5

ROUND 2

4. REGGIE ‘N’ BOLLIE
I Gotta Feeling/I Like To Move It
[GROUPS]

– It seems like the producers really wanted them in the finale no? And it seems the public is behind them too. No Bottom 2 appearance yet and to think that they were the last group standing, I never really thought that they would. The big production from stage to the audience and the song choice that didn’t really need them to sing in tune? typical Reggie ‘N’ Bollie fun performance. 6

3. CHE CHESTERMAN
Love Is A Losing Game
[BOYS]

– I’m not sure what Simon is saying and seriously why is he very critical now and not in the past episodes but I thought this was solid from Che. Not the best sure but he did sounded kinda into it and now. His vocals were good. He didn’t forget any lyrics. It was good. 7

2. LAUREN MURRAY
Runnin’ (Lose It All)
[GIRLS]

– The first half was glorious, the second half was great! Lauren can sing songs with so much because her tone and voice alone is simply beautiful without even trying. This is yet another smooth, gorgeous vocal performance from her. 7.5

1. LOUISA JOHNSON
It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World
[GIRLS]

– The song choice gave us what we expected from Louisa. Her gritty take with so much angst yet passion is spot on. Her tone sounded perfect with the song. Her vocals were a great. But. I must say. I heard better versions of this tired song choice but for tonight, I thought Louisa  once again was a runaway winner. 8
