The Voice UK 5: Finale

You see this show has a fast paced live shows, we now have crowned our newest champ! Yup you read it right. The whole episode is quite great for me, although the whole season is a bit underwhelming. But I must say the top 4 held their own tonight and the final two are the ones I thought deserved it.

So without further adieu, here’s how the final night of the Season 5 went.

ROUND 1: SOLO

4. CODY FROST
Mad World
Team BOY GEORGE

– Albeit the fact that the song choice was on the nose, Cody actually sounded divine here. Her vocals were fantastic and the way she delicately delivered her verses were a thing of beauty. 8

3. JOLAN
I Heard It Through The Grapevine
Team RICKY

– I am not a fan of the song choice but boy Jolan sang the gorgeousness of it. It was smooth with right texture of runs and power. He is solid and consistent, I’m a fan! 8

2. LYDIA LUCY
No One
Team WILL

– Where did this come from? Lydia sounded lovely here and her take is more controlled especially with her thin voice, sometimes her high register is jarring. But tonight there is more connection and the effortless vocals sounded great. Oh and the rap verses is a nice obvious touch. 8

1. KEVIN SIMMS
Stay
Team RICKY

– This is Kevin with vocal master class! It was connected. There is depth in his delivery and his vocals were stunning! The verses sounded like butter and when he hits those high registers, I’m sold! 8.5

ROUND 2: COACH-ARTIST DUETS

4. CODY FROST (w/ Boy George)
Imagine
Team BOY GEORGE

– It’s like Boy George sabotage his own artist in here. I don’t know if the song choice is made more for him than her as I could hear and see Cody struggle the entire. And was she relegated to doing back up harmonies? Yikes. 4

3. KEVIN SIMMS (w/ Ricky Wilson)
Mr. Brightside
Team RICKY

– While the song is quite wordy where in parts both Kevin and Ricky were just mumbling words and sounded breathy, I thought this was fun, energetic and in parts good! 7

2. JOLAN (w/ Ricky Wilson)
Are You Gonna Go My Way
Team RICKY

– This is way better than Kevin & Ricky’s duet and did Jolan just outsang Ricky? I could’ve chosen another song but like the other, this was fun, energetic and the difference? more vocally consistent! 7.5

1. LYDIA LUCY (w/ Will.I.Am)
Boys & Girls
Team WILL

– It is smart for Will to use his new single in this duet of Lydia and to be honest? This was really good! Lydia looked and sounded like a star and this showed that this could be her in the future: a pop star! 8

ELIMINATED:
Lydia Lucy (Team Will)
Cody Frost (Team Boy George)

ROUND 3: CORONATION SONG

JOLAN
All You Good Friends
Team RICKY

– Holy moly vocals were great! Usually when two artists sing the same coronation song, the other falters because obviously sometimes the song is written with the other on mind. In this case, Kevin is the front runner all season and I am pretty sure All you good friends is written for him. With that being said, Jolan held his own delivering a clear, gorgeous vocal interpretation of the song. Great job! 8

KEVIN SIMMS
All You Good Friends
Team RICKY

– The song suits him well. Technically, I thought Jolan sounded better but in the other aspect is where Kevin won this round. The difference? He is more connected with the song. You could feel emotions and the way he deliver the verses was lovely and passionate. 8.5

And the winner of THE VOICE UK SEASON 5 is…

KEVIN SIMMS

The Voice UK 5: Semi-Finals

It is that fast! I’m telling you we are now one week left from crowning a new The Voice UK champ. Tonight, from 8 the contestants will be trimmed to 4 that will battle it out to next week’s finale. All in the hands of the public.

So how did the night went? I thought most brought their A-game tonight. And I enjoyed most performances.

8. LYRICKAL
See You Again
Team WILL

– It’s just impossible for Lyrickal to sing on tune no? 3

7. LYDIA LUCY
I’ll Be There
Team WILL

– While the rap verse reminded me of Cher Lloyd style, her thin tone is just grating at somepoint and the song choice is terrible. 4

6. VANGELIS
Beautiful
Team BOY GEORGE

– I love me self some Vangelis but the dark take on this song somehow left me in both sides. I thought Vangelis sounded beautiful but the wholeness of the performance kinda left me cold. 6.5

5. JORDAN GRAY
Dancing In The Dark
Team PALOMA

– Jordan is an interesting piece. She can sing but the theatrics should be tone down. But I still think this was solid. I like her vocals here. 7

4. HEATHER CAMERON – HAYES
Sorry
Team PALOMA

– Her take on “Sorry” is very reminiscent of probably what Birdy would do. Her tone fluorishes the song and there is a sense of ownness to it that I like. Her melodic choices were interesting and the overall was lovely. 7

3. KEVIN SIMMS
Rolling In The Deep
Team RICKY

– Fantastic vocals! Kevin can sing the phonebook. I thought we are back with him again and his solid vocals proved why he’s been a front runner since his audition – aside from the well hyped audition. Haha. 8

2. CODY FROST
The Chain
Team BOY GEORGE

– She’s back! Cody lost it in there but I love it! It was natural, consistent and lovely. The liberties she took were good and she just laid all in the line. 8

1. JOLAN
Purple Rain
Team RICKY

– Oh Jolan! He is giving Kevin Simms a run for his money but more so, I thought he was the most consistent contestant this season. Purple Rain was a nice and solid choice for him. It sounded current, fresh and vocally fantastic! 8.5

PUBLIC’S VOTE FOR TOP 4 FINALE
Kevin Simms (Team Ricky)
Jolan (Team Ricky)
Cody Frost (Team Boy George)
Lydia Lucy (Team Will)

The Voice UK 5: Quarter-Finals

3 Weeks of Live Shows. 2 already quits the show before it even started. 1 underwhelming night.

This is probably one of the least favorite round of this franchise. I mean, we spent weeks of Blinds then set the tone on some great battles and the format of the knockouts is probably something the other franchise should follow but the worst live show format is attributed to the The Voice UK.

See how in 3 weeks we will already crown a new The Voice UK champ? Yikes. Okay. So tonight is the same old, same thing. All artists will perform. Each coach will save an artist for an instant pass to next week’s Semi-Finals. Then the public will vote like literally in minutes of who they wanted to move on to the next round. So basically in the finals, all coaches are well represented with one artist left. Ugh.

Stevie McCrorie returns with his new single. Years & Years also performs tonight.

Now here’s how I rank tonight’s performances.

10. LAUREN LAPSLEY – BROWNE
Dreamer
Team WILL

– What a mess. The song choice was just wrong. The styling is screaming show girl. The performance – for me – was jusf all over the place. Look, Lauren tried her best but with her pitch that was just off, her high registers were flat and the vocals mostly sharp? I just didn’t think this even worked at all. 3

9. HARRY FISHER
Space Oddity
Team BOY GEORGE

– What are these song choices. I do love how The Voice UK usually introduces me to terrific songs that I haven’t heard before but if something like this wasted a talent like Harry, I am buffled. Harry can sing but the song itself didn’t allow him to show dynamics and marketability. It was almost dragging and his vocals? weakest to date. 4

8. CODY FROST
Ordinary World
Team BOY GEORGE

– I love me some Cody but this was one just odd or if not to be more precise, her performance felt like one of the same thing. I know she was trying to infuse her authenticty but I wish it was in the right idea and excution. Something that will surprise us. Here the vocals felt lazy, sleepy and the over all performance is one step closer to being bland. 4.5

7. LYRICKAL
Just Like A Child
Team WILL

– This is an idea that is on paper a great one but the execution was just almost but not quite. While I thought it is a good take, the inconsistencies with his vocals made it weak. 5

6. HEATHER CAMERON -HAYES
Stitches
Team PALOMA

– If only Heather stayed on that first hof arrangement, then this will be a homerun. I thought the first half if gorgeous but once the band kicked in with her, she kinda lose her tempo and her pitch became off. But nice effort. She needs to okay her cards well. 6

5. KEVIN SIMMS
Kissing You
Team RICKY

– His vocals is arguably one of the best this season but Kevin needs to know how to use his dynamics. The choices in his vocals could’ve been better and I wish he chose a different song that will allow us to hear him in that more intimate and quiet performance because we know he can belt. 6.5

4. JORDAN GRAY
Shake It Out
Team PALOMA

– The production of this is impressive. The choices he took in the vocals department were interesting. But the whole performance is too theatrical, it kinda lost the essence for me. 7

3. LYDIA LUCY
Somebody Else’s Guy
Team WILL

– Lydia’s performance showed that she is an able pop star. From the soaring vocals to the liberties she took in the verses, it was actually solid. She just had to be more careful because of some pitch issues here and there. 7

2. VANGELIS
Here’s Comes The Rain Again
Team BOY GEORGE

– Gorgeous! He allows to be more intimate to the song in this arrangement that I thought was a smart move. We only have limited live shows, so play with your strengths artists! Anyway, Vangelis sang this really well. Great job! 8

1. JOLAN
Yes
Team RICKY

– I am impressed with how consistent Jolan has been this season and I must say, this is just a solid showing from him. His vocals were spot on. The liberties he took were precise. I was entertained. 8

TOP 8
Kevin Simms (Ricky’s Fast Pass)
Jordan Gray (Paloma’s Fast Pass)
Cody Frost (Boy George’s Fast Pass)
Lyrickal (Will’s Fast Pass)
Jolan (Public’s Vote)
Heather Cameron – Hayes (Public’s Vote)
Vangelis (Public’s Vote)
Lydia Lucy (Public’s Vote)

ELIMINATED
Harry Fisher
Lauren Lapsely – Browne

The Voice UK 5: Knockouts (#TeamWill)

I’ve always said that it seems that Will is out of his element this season or  it was just hisbusual self but still he has this unusual choices that I believe only he knows best. Haha.

To me, potential and star quality wise Will has a winner in his side with Tom Rickels whose resemblance with Harry Styles is very evident. But will he took that chance?

Nonetheless, here is how I rank his team.

8. LAUREN LAPSLEY – BROWN
Release Me

– While she hit some off key verses, there was tenderness to her take that seems to be really good if only she took a more controlled take on her vocals. 6

7. FAHEEM
We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off

– Expected, sang beautifully but nothing really ground breaking. 6

6. TOM RICKELS
Problem

– There is an interesting idea in here though the execution fell short. The vocals were shaky but there are also bright spots in here too. 6

5. ELI CRIPPS
Used To Love You

– While I wish there was more attitude or if not it was more intimate, Eli sang a decent cover of this John Legend song. It was simple, okay and passable. 6.5

4. THEO LLEWELLYN
Photograph

– Is it me or it was too slowed down? But then Theo showed what he does best, connect with his material and the liberties he took were just beautiful! 7

3. LYRICKAL
Read All About It

– The rap breakdown is such a good treat from Lyrickal because he doesn’t have the best vocals on the show, so somehow that created a texture on this performance. 7

2. LYDIA LUCY
I Knew You Were Trouble

– The stripped down cover is smart. Albeit some overwrought runs, this was a solid vocal from Lydia showing both her vocal prowess and some chosen intimate low notes. 7.5

1. CHARLEY BLUE
Frisky

– It was actually difficult to rank Will’s team as I thought there were no exceptional performance but there is for sure a stand out one. For me, Charley stole the show with solid vocals yet showing her personality. The singing wasn’t bad, her tone sounded good and it was an entertaining performance to be honest. 8

WILL’S TOP 3:
Lauren Lapsley – Brown
Lydia Lucy
Lyrickal

The Voice UK 5: Knockouts (#TeamGeorge)

There is an interesting mix in this team of Boy George but I must say that the ones that have stood out in his team have something in common: being different yet fantastic singers.

This is shaping to be a good season I guess and I do hope that Boy George will choose the right song choices for his team on the live shows next week.

Here is how I rank his team tonight.

8. LAURA BEGLEY
Sweet Disposition

– This could have been glorious if only Laura watched on her pitch carefully. She began the song off pitch and then the uneven verses didn’t help as well. Sure there are really good moments in parts, but for me, it was too little to save her whole performance. 4

7. ALARIC GREEN
Unchained Melody

– It was sleepy and his best karaoke attempt. 5

6. LEIGHTON JONES
Feel Like Makin’ Love

– This was decent. Something that is a usual showing from Leighton which I thought didn’t really show anything new from him. 6

5. CHASE MORTON
If You Let Me Stay

– I am surprised. Sure this wasn’t anything ground breaking or vocally solid, but Chase had some good moments and this was entertaining at least. 6.5

4. BRADLEY WATERMAN
Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine)

– Interesting take, solid vocals. Okay, it may not be perfecfly sang but I liked the risk he took. There are moments that this felt too safe  in terms of vocals but I digress. 7.5

3. HARRY FISHER
Hello

– Solid! A bit theatrical but it was actually a good take on the Adele hit. Harry took some interesting liberties and vocal ad libs. 8

2. CODY FROST
Another Brick On The Wall

– The beginning was divine and the build up is kinda interesting. Her vocals – not perfect – but beautifully phrased. 8

1. VANGELIS
Always On My Mind

– Beautiful. This was just delicate, lovely and the way he navigated the song was like butter. Smooth, enotionally connected and it was simply a solid performance. 8.5

BOY GEORGE’S TOP 3:
Vangelis
Cody Frost
Harry Fisher

The Voice UK 5: Knockouts (#TeamPaloma)

Finally. While I don’t necessarily agree with some of Paloma’s choices this season, I thought her team gave their very best tonight and some delivered really good and some surprised me on how well they did.

As for Paloma’s decisions? I will leave it to her as it was her team after all.

Now let us rank her team.

8. DEANO BOROCZKY
Georgia On My Mind

– I was kinda disappointed on how Deano attacked this performance. I thought, initially, this was a perfect song choice from him but somehow something happened and I was left cold. Deano has been consistent this season prior to this and his delivery of Georgia on my mind is lackluster, cold and flat. 6

7. BETH MORRIS
Jumpin’ Jack Flash

– Her stage presence is undeniably solid and Beth knows how to entertain her audience. But this felt like a decent throwaway performance from her. 6.5

6. DWAINE HAYDEN
Knocks Me Off My Feet

– The lovely vocals were a compelling touch that I thought Dwaine delivered pretty well. A little safe but I thought it sounded good. 7

5. AARON HILL
Goin’ Up Yonder

– Woah! Where did this come from? Aside from the not-so-muddled phrasing, Aaron brought soul and power to the church! It was powerful, well connected and vocally solid. 7

4. HEATHER CAMERON-HAYES
Holding Out On A Hero

– The arrangement isn’t something new as I heard cover of such a lot of times before but there is something interestingly solid on how she phrased and delivered this song. A little haunting, there’s enough power and I am intrigued. 7

3. RICK SNOWDON
Watch Over You

– Solid vocals and fantastic stage presence. 7.5

2. FAITH NELSON
Runnin’ (Lose It All)

– Okay now missy! Faith just proved to me that she can deliver dynamics. Sure, she got too shouty towards the end but I digress. This is gorgeous and powerful with enough nuanced verses that provided dynamics on this performance. 7.5

1. JORDAN GRAY
Real Gone Kid

– He was just growing so good on this competition. Jordan just knows how to touch those heartstrings and how well he connected with his material is just compelling. Vocally, it wasn’t perfect but it was strong. 8

PALOMA’S TOP 3:
Jordan Gray
Heather Cameron-Hayes
Beth Morris

The Voice UK 5: Knockouts (#TeamRicky)

Holy moly! This was absolutely a fantastic night of knockouts! Everyone gave their A-game and I could say that there is not even one bad performance.

Up first is Team Ricky! To be honest, I will be very surprised if this season’s winner is not going to be from Team Ricky. He has 2 potential winners in his pocket and 1 dark horse that could really do well. Plus, from his eliminated contestants, I could still throw in 1-2 more artists that deserves to reach the live shows.

Nonetheless, Ricky Wilson’s team is looking really good for the live shows and here is how I ranked his team for tonight’s Knockouts.

8. ALIESHA LOBUCZEK
Unconditionally

– Sure enough, Aliesha started shaky, hits a couple of sharp notes but I like how she took liberties and delivered a decent performance. 6

7. KAGAN
Hotline Bling

– I still can’t believe that he made it to this round over David Barnes but I am not really hatin’ his cover of Hotline Bling. There are stuff that I wish he had more control of and his falsetto should’ve been more stronger but it was actually decent showing from Kagan. 6

6. MIA SYLVESTER
Who’s Lovin’ You

– Mia’s expertise I think is this soulful classic. Her audition was nice, this was good and though she had a shaky battle, I thought she still delivers. Her vocals here weren’t perfect but it was strong and powerful. 6.5

5. RACHEL ANN
Come As You Are

– Haunting! There is just an intriguing quality to this that is simply her. Her vocals may not be the most spot on on this group but it is just captivating on its own. 7

4. BROOKLYNNE RICHARDS
Think

– Fantastic stage presence. Great vocals! Brooklynne delivered fire, sassiness and lovely vocal power that took away this performance from being karaoke. It was fierce! 7.5

3. KEVIN SIMMS
Wings

– Gorgeous vocals! Kevin may have hit some intriguing belting notes but the overall performance is just powerful and emotionally connected! 8

2. JOLAN
Never Tear Us Apart

– Jolan knows how to deliver and his control is just one of his strong aspect! His vocals were gorgeous and solid. 8

1. CHLOE CASTRO
Alive

– I love her! This was just an absolute fantastic cover. From the range to the quality to even some cracks from her voice that I thought works. Chloe is probably the dark of the competition and how well she connected with her song, I thought was just spot on. 8.5

RICKY’S TOP 3:
Jolan
Chloe Castro
Kevin Simms

The Voice UK 5: Battles (2)

The Voice UK 5 - Battle Rounds

It’s the final set of battles tonight before we head on to the Knockouts. Paloma and Boy George were able to use their two (2) saves and that leaves us with Ricky and Will using their last save for tonight.

Will we have shocking decisions and wise save? Probably! Haha.

Here is a rundown of tonight’s battles!

Kevin Simm [vs] Faith Nelson
Spotlight
Team PALOMA

– Clearly the song choice is more on Faith’s alley but I am glad on how well Kevin held his own. Faith started pretty but she still had some pitch issues here and then. Kevin delivered a pretty spot on performance not until he tried to hit those high notes and he fell sharp. 7

WINNER: Faith Nelson
STOLEN: Kevin Simm (Team Ricky)
ELIMINATED:

Chase Morton [vs] J Sealy
I Can See Clearly Now
Team BOY

– Eh. Bland. 5

WINNER: Chase Morton
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: J Sealy

Vivica Jade [vs] Lauren Lapsley-Browne
Love Shack
Team WILL

– Vivica had the better pitch but Lauren looked more marketable. This is an all over the place battle in terms of vocals. 5

WINNER: Lauren Lapsley-Browne
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Vivica Jade

Kagan [vs] David Barnes
King
Team RICKY

– I am surprised with Ricky’s choice. Sure Kagan had this sweet voice but it is almost so thin that I really find it hard to enjoy. David delivered a better vocal performance, for me. 6.5

WINNER: Kagan
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: David Barnes

Vangelis Polydorou [vs] Melissa Cavanagh
One
Team BOY

– Vangelis! I love his voice and how spot on his delivery is. Melissa is shaky. 6.5

WINNER: Vangelis Polydorou
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Melissa Cavanagh

Janine Dyer [vs] Mia Sylvester
Ain’t No Other Man
Team RICKY

– This lacked that sass and rhythm. At least for Mia who is all bombast but her rhythm is just off. Janine outsang her but she sounded off pitch in parts. 5.5

WINNER: Mia Sylvester
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Janine Dyer

Tom Rickels [vs] Colleen Gormley
Everything She Wants
Team WILL

– No doubt, Tom Rickels. I think Colleen is just a cannon fodder. Tom reminds me of Harry Styles during his young, X Factor UK days. 6

WINNER: Tom Rickels
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Colleen Gormley

Deano Boroczky [vs] Megan Reece
I Try
Team PALOMA

– I think this was a solid albeit lacking of stage presence battle. Both sounded pretty and strong. Deano though hit better notes than Megan but I digress. 7

WINNER: Deano Boroczky
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Megan Reece

Leighton Jones [vs] Eli Cripps
If I Were Your Woman
Team BOY

– Again, this is a solid battle. Nothing groundbreaking but both singers shine on their own and still maintaining that work together feel that made this battle quite compelling. 7

WINNER: Leighton Jones
STOLEN: Eli Cripps (Team Will)
ELIMINATED:

Mari Marli [vs] Lyrickal
Like I Can
Team WILL

– How in the world Will chose Lyrickal is beyond explanation. Although, I didn’t really care for both, Mari delivered better vocals despite some muddled verses and overwrought stylings. 5

WINNER: Lyrickal
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Mari Marli

Aine Carroll [vs] Rachel Ann
This Is The Last Time
Team RICKY

– Okay, I thought this started really good and interesting but that dolphin whistle from Rachel Ann felt unnecessary and somehow it shook Aine’s confidence that made this battle uneven. The first half was gorgeous, the second half was terrible. 6.5

WINNER: Rachel Ann
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Aine Carroll

Beth Morris [vs] Steve Devereaux
Crazy
Team PALOMA

– Cannon fodders! I feel bad for Steve as I feel like he was uncomfortable with the song. Clearly, Beth outperformed him. 5

WINNER: Beth Morris
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Steve Devereaux

The Voice UK 5: Battles (1)

This is THE VOICE!!! Finally, the gods of music and reality shows had heard my calling as the teams, coaches and artists gave us an outstanding night of battles. These are not perfect battles but compared to the lackluster blind auditions? This is more entertaining, solid and fun. There are also fantastic battles that easily stood out tonight.

So here goes the first batch of battles for the season. Oh Jordan Gray is also back. Apparently one of Paloma’s artist dropped and she had to choose one to replace her.

Irene Alano-Rhodes [vs] Lydia Lucy
Cryin’
Team WILL

– Irene came alive in this battle compare to her blind auditions. Lydia had a good hold to her notes which is miles better than her audition also. This was a tight battle with both singers missing some notes and also hitting the right ones. 6

WINNER: Lydia Lucy
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Irene Alano-Rhodes

Dwaine Hayden [vs] Aliesha Lobuczek
Kiss Me
Team PALOMA

– At first I felt this was an odd pairing but somehow, somewhere in this battle it worked. Dwaine, I think, had a better performance and the song choice suits him more but Aliesha held her own and at some point outsang him. 6.5

WINNER: Dwaine Hayden
STOLEN: Aliesha Lobuczek (Team Ricky)
ELIMINATED:

Charley Birkin (vs) Harry Fisher
I Just Can’t Stop Lovin’ You
Team BOY

– While the performance felt more like a duet than a battle, I thought it was a decent run for both. Upping each other when the opportunity knocks, Harry had better vocals though for me. 6

WINNER: Harry Fisher
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Charley Birkin

Jolan [vs] Efe Udugba
Beat Surrender
Team RICKY

– In this battle, Jolan just outsang Efe right away but I love how he showed how to do it and at the same time respectful enough to hold back when he needs to. In the end, he was outshining his opponent and at the same time giving him his moment. Efe held his own, but sounded weak when he and Jolan were singing together. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this battle. Good stuff! 6.5

WINNER: Jolan
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Efe Udugba

Charley Blue [vs] Scott & Vicki
Black Magic
Team WILL

– I love how Charley was able to show that she is more than just the girl who plays classic and cello. She seriously outshine the duo and delivered a solid performance. I feel like Scott & Vicki are still finding it hard to have their groove and sound as one. Their pitches were all over the place. So easily, I’ll give this to Charley. 6

WINNER: Charley Blue
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Scott & Vicki

Chloe Castro [vs] Alaric Green
Hope There’s Someone
Team RICKY

– Gorgeous! Sure, it became a bit theatrical or melodramatic towards the end but the nuanced deliver and gorgeous phrasing were riveting. Chloe to me won this battle but Alaric had some bright moments! 7.5

WINNER: Chloe Castro
STOLEN: Alaric Green (Team Boy)
ELIMINATED:

Faheem [vs] Aaron Hill
Livin’ For The City
Team WILL

– I don’t really think it was smart for Paloma to steal Aaron as I thought the guy struggled bigtime on this match up. His phrasing were muddled and his pitch was all over the place. Faheem had better moments and he sounded pretty and confident in parts. 6

WINNER: Faheem
STOLEN: Aaron Hill (Team Paloma)
ELIMINATED:

Laura Begley [vs] Tobias Robertson
Love Will Tear Us Apart
Team BOY

– Somehow this was a total snoozefest. The vocals were fine to sleepy. The whole thing was just forgettable. 5

WINNER: Laura Begley
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Tobias Robertson

Jordan Gray [vs] Theo Llewelyn
This Woman’s Work
Team PALOMA

– Lovely! At first, I wasn’t sure why Paloma chose Jordan as a replacement artist but after this performance, I’m at peace. The vocals were divine. The drama was stellar. The emotions were just stunning! Great emotional battle! Both sounded really good. 8

WINNER: Jordan Gray
STOLEN: Theo Llewelyn (Team Will)
ELIMINATED:

Brooklynne Richards [vs] Tom Milner
Tears Dry On Their Own
Team RICKY

– While Tom showed more stage presence and vocally on point, Brooklynne intrigues me. She had this infectious tone that is not perfect and how she held her own to a more polished Tom is quite impressive. The battle could’ve been better but I digress. 6.5

WINNER: Brooklynne Richards
STOLEN:
ELIMINATED: Tom Milner

Bradley Waterman [vs] Rick Snowdon
Something’s Got A Hold On Me/I’m A Man
Team PALOMA

– The song choice do more favors with Rick so I applaud Bradley for pulling a decent battle. Rick sounded great with tons of grit and confidence. But Bradley is more marketable and he was able to held on his own which is impressive. 7

WINNER: Rick Snowdon
STOLEN: Bradley Waterman (Team Boy)
ELIMINATED:

Cody Frost [vs] Heather Cameron-Hayes
Nothing Compares 2 U
Team BOY

– There is something unflattering to Heather’s tone that didn’t sit well on me but the battle was intense, dark and surprisingly a decent job! Cody had better moments and her pitch were more on point than Heather. But still, Heather was able to keep up a good hold of her own to this battle as clearly Cody had better! 6.5

WINNER: Cody Frost
STOLEN: Heather Cameron-Hayes (Team Paloma)
ELIMINATED:

The Voice UK 5: Blind Auditions (7)

The Voice UK 5

It is the end of the Blind Auditions! Finally! As the coaches are finding their last set of artists that will complete their teams, we are catered with some confusing choices and dumb entertainment. I seriously got bored with the blinds this season, hopefully it will pick up on the battles and knockouts!

Anyway here are the last few added artists on each team.

Faith Nelson
Earned It
[Team PALOMA]

– She literally began her audition in high register that I felt like it didn’t have enough dynamics. Her pitch sounded thin in parts. I’m on the fence with this. Not sure. Not sure. 5

Rachel Ann
In For The Kill
[Team RICKY]

– She started shaky but picked it up. Sure she hit more sharp notes in parts but there is something about her that could be molded. Her tone is nice. The pitch were a bit all over the place. This is quite impressive. 7

Leighton Jones
Heaven Help Us All
[Team BOY]

– I’m impressed. The tone is quite nice. His delivery is decent. Nothing groundbreaking or great but with auditions ending tonight, I can’t really complain anymore. I liked this though. 6.5

David Barnes
When A Man Loves A Woman
[Team RICKY]

– With a song that has been covered a lot of times and other artists delivered really fantastic ones, David’s version is a tad underwhelming. But with a crop of weak auditions so far? This is already solid! 7

Laura Begley
Ask
[Team BOY]

– Forgettable. 5

Aaron Hill
Never Too Much
[Team WILL]

– Muddled phrasing but decent delivery. His tone is quite generic but I digress. 6

Colleen Gormley
When You Say Nothing At All
[Team WILL]

– Sweet tone. Weak delivery. A bit pageant-y. Is Will trying to sabotage himself? His team is pretty weak or I just had to get used on him having weird choices. 5
